David Chiswell (Chair)

After a career as a research scientist in both the UK and the US and nine years working in scientific management at Amersham International, David was co-founder of Cambridge Antibody Technology (CAT) in 1990. He was responsible for operational management from 1990 to 2002 including as CEO from 1996 to 2002. CAT listed on the London Stock exchange in April 1997 and Nasdaq in June 2001. Since leaving CAT in March 2002 David has been focusing on the development of early stage biotechnology companies including positions as non-executive Chairman of Sosei Ltd, Arrow Therapeutics Ltd, and Daniolabs Ltd and as a director of Arakis Ltd. David is currently Executive Chairman of Albireo Ltd and is an advisor to Nomura Phase IV ventures. David is a past Chairman of the UK’s BioIndustry association (BIA) and remains on their board. In 2006 he was awarded the OBE by HM Queen for services to the biotechnology industry.

Denise Pollard-Knight (Deputy Chair) - Nomura Phase4 Ventures

Denise Pollard-Knight has been responsible for Nomura’s BioPharma investment activities for almost 8 years. Prior to joining Nomura Denise was an investment manager in the Bioscience Unit of Rothschild Asset Management. She has held R&D management positions at Amersham and Fisons plc. and was a main board Director at Scientific Generics. She holds a PhD and BSc (Hons) from Birmingham University and was a Fulbright scholar at the University of California, Berkley. Denise is a Director of Idenix, Viacell, and Cerimon.

Axel Bolte - HBM Partners

Axel Bolte is an investment advisor to HBM Partners. Prior to joining HBM Partners, Axel was an investment manager at NMT, responsible for public biotech investments. He also held a position in R&D management at Serono. He has a Masters degree in Biochemistry from the ETH Zurich and holds an MBA from University of St. Gallen. Axel is a Member of Board of PTC Therapeutics, Newron Pharmaceuticals, and Lux Biosciences.

Robert C. Moellering - Harvard Medical School

Dr. Robert C. Moellering is Shields Warren-Mallinckrodt Professor of Medical Research at Harvard Medical School and one of the world’s most respected scientists in the domain of infectious diseases and antibiotics research. Numerous functions at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston (Harvard’s university clinic), as well as 35 years of research and over 400 publications in international scientific journals, have earned Dr. Moellering an honorary doctorate and countless awards.

Ernst Meijnders - Sandoz

Ir. Ernst Meijnders is the Chief Executive Officer of Sandoz GmbH. He has 25 years experience in international managerial roles in a wide range of areas within the oil, fine chemicals and pharma industries. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Sandoz Group. In this function, Ernst is responsible for the global Anti-Infectives business of the Sandoz Group, which he manages from the BU headquarter in Kundl. Ernst is a Dutch national and holds a degree in mechanical engineering.

Peter Reinisch (Observer) - Global Life Science

Dr. Peter H. Reinisch is a Partner of Global Life Science Ventures. He has over 21 years experience in the life science industry that includes senior management positions in the Corange group and the setting up and running of GLSV. He is a board member, or attendee, with a number of portfolio companies, five of which are already public. Prior to Corange/Boehringer Mannheim Dr. Reinisch held positions of increasing responsibility with Brown Boveri, the Institute for Automation, the Denner Group and McKinsey and Co.. Dr. Reinisch first studied mechanical engineering, then graduated summa cum laude with a doctorate degree in Business Administration from the Technical University of Vienna.
