Chief Executive Officer
George Golumbeski joined Nabriva Therapeutics after nearly 20 years in the biopharmaceutical industry. His last position before joining Nabriva was Vice President of Business Development, Licensing, and Strategy for the oncology business unit at Novartis. In this role, he was responsible for the full array of business development activities (in-licensing, M&A, out-licensing, alliance management) and he was a member of the Executive Committee that was responsible for overall results of the oncology business.
Earlier in his career, George held senior positions at Elan Biopharamceuticals (where he led or supported all acquisitions for R&D) and at Schwarz Pharma (where he led CNS acquisitions worldwide). In both of these roles, George served on the R&D management team, and led transactions generally focused on CNS, Oncology, or Infectious Disease Therapeutics. These transactions ranged from licensing deals to the acquisition of other companies.
During his career, George has developed a high degree of expertise in the evaluation of new compounds, negotiation of collaboration agreements, and strategy development. Several of his product acquisitions have been approved in the US and the EU or are in registration in the US and the EU.
George holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado, where his work focused on molecular biological methods used in biotechnology, genetics, and molecular medicine. He earned his B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia.
